Our history
La Bonita Lodge
Located in a privileged corner of the Costa Rican Caribbean, La Bonita Lodge is a haven of tranquility where every space has been designed to blend harmoniously with the landscape.
October 2022
In 2022, we acquired the land that now houses La Bonita Lodge, a site that had been overgrown by weeds for several years after being abandoned as a space dedicated to livestock and cocoa plantations. From the outset, our goal was to develop a project that respected the essence of the surroundings, integrating architecture with nature.
Early 2023
In early 2023, we began designing and structuring the space with an architectural firm, ensuring that every detail reflected our vision of harmony between comfort and nature. We wanted to create a place where the architecture blended with the surroundings, maintaining the tropical essence of the landscape. Every decision made in Spain, 8,384 km away, from the layout of the spaces to the selection of finishes, was designed to offer a unique experience, in tune with the serenity and beauty of the Caribbean.
End of 2023
At the end of 2023, we began construction with a firm commitment to the environment: respecting every tree on the property and integrating them into the lodge's design. For us, it didn't make sense for Europeans to come to Costa Rica attracted by its nature and end up cutting it down to build a hotel. Instead of altering the landscape, we adapted the architecture to the existing vegetation, allowing the trees to remain part of the ecosystem and providing shade, freshness, and life to every corner of La Bonita Lodge.
Mid-2024
In mid-2024, with construction progressing and facing numerous logistical challenges due to the surrounding environment and distance, we decided to acquire the adjacent land of approximately 1,000 m². Our goal was to allocate only 100 m² for a small parking lot surrounded by trees, keeping the rest intact to preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the site. This decision reflected our commitment to balancing comfort with respect for the environment, ensuring that La Bonita Lodge remains a space in harmony with nature.
End of 2024
In December 2024, we opened La Bonita Lodge. After months of planning, design, and hard work, we created a space that blends comfort, sustainability, and respect for the environment. Every corner of La Bonita has been conceived to blend harmoniously with the landscape, respecting the surrounding environment. This project is not only a place to rest, but also a way to experience the natural beauty of Costa Rica, promoting the conservation of its biodiversity and offering our visitors a unique experience in contact with nature.
Future
On this land we decided to preserve, we want to develop activities that are fully compatible with maintaining not only the trees but also the entire depth of small shrubs and low jungle, which are essential for preserving the area's biodiversity. Our goal is to create trails, keep the forest intact, and build small, 100% sustainable cabins that allow our visitors to enjoy the surroundings in a respectful manner. In this way, we seek to foster a harmonious relationship with nature, promoting the conservation of ecosystems and the wildlife that inhabits them.
